Prospective PhD students (Nov 2022): If you are a strong student looking for an interesting PhD project that blends computation, mechanics, and biology, please take a look at the our research page and get in touch. A main theme of our current research is the large-scale simulation of microscopic active bodies and their coordinated movement through fluids, with a particular interest in cilia coordination. We are also interested in the development of numerical methods and focus on improving methods for resolving Brownian motion and viscoelasticity in order to incorporate these effects into our simulations. It's important to submit your application as soon as possible. There are a variety of studentships available for Home/EU students and Overseas students, and your chance of securing one of them is greater the earlier that you apply.
