Autumn newsletter 2018

The Centre for Systems Engineering and Innovation is working to support industry transformation. In her recent report, ‘Building a Safer Future’ Dame Judith Hackitt highlights the need for a systems approach with a golden thread of information running through the lifecycle. Our fundamental research is concerned with this, and also seeks to progress the Industrial Strategy agenda around Transforming Construction. We were delighted to welcome both David Hancock, Construction Director at the Infrastructure Projects Authority and Dame Judith Hackitt as keynotes at our recent showcase event. This highlighted how the Centre is drawing expertise from across the Department for Civil Engineering and Innovation, and the broader Faculty of Engineering, with three themes around which research is organized: production systems, infrastructure interdependencies and lifecycle. We have an important role to play in building the research capacity of the industry to address systems challenges. Recent successes of the Centre and our forthcoming activities are highlighted below.

Welcome to our new members of staff.....
