Science-Based Innovation

Scientific knowledge is at the root of numerous innovations that have found their way into the economy and society. In this theme, we investigate how scientific knowledge drives economic activity and underpins societal impact. We explore the various mechanisms by which this occurs, including university-industry relations, commercialisation and academic entrepreneurship. In particular, we consider novel organisational models in this space, such as open data consortia, special boundary organisations, alternative forms of commercialisation and non-commercial forms of impact.
