Home Registration Participants Programme Practical Information
The conference will be held at the following address:
170 Queen's Gate, Drawing Room
Here is a useful google map, and here is the map of the university campus. Note that the Drawing Room is on the first floor, to the right of the entrance.
Eduroam is available across the Imperial College campus. If you are not sure wether you have eduroam via your home institution, it is worth checking it before the workshop.
South Kensington is the district where the main campus of Imperial College lies, and where the conference will take place. It is close to several London attractions, including the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens to the north, as well as one of the royal residences, Kensington Palace. Three major museums, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum are also located here. The area had several famous residents, including Béla Bartók (whose sculpture decorates the underground station).
London has a very extensive, although rather crowded public transportation system with an excellent homepage. If you want to use this system more than once, it is worth buying an Oyster Card at one of the underground stations. On buses it is also possible to pay with a contactless banking card. The two underground stations closest to Imperial College are Gloucester Road and South Kensington.
The currency in the United Kingdom is GBP (pound sterling, symbol: £).
The approximate currency rate is: £1 ≈ €1.18 or ≈ ₪4.82. See the currency converter for up-to-date rates.
There are exchange booths near Gloucester Road underground station.
There are many restaurants and coffee shops on Gloucester Road (on the west) and on Old Brompton Road (to the south), especially in the vicinity of the two underground stations. There are restaurants, coffee shops and high street shopping on High Street Kensington (on the north), too.
