Glass Blowing event

Group at glass blowing demonstration

A group of 19 staff attended a glass blowing demonstration by Stephen Ramsey from the Department of Chemistry on Tuesday 8 December 2015.   The event was an opportunity to see first hand an example of the range of interesting work that goes on within departments and to meet staff from across the College – amongst the 19 attendees, 14 different departments were represented.

Groups and Clubs you can join

Crochet Club

Channel your inner crafter and join the staff Crochet Club, led by staff member Joanna Norton.  The club is free to join, and help and support with technique is provided, but you’ll need to bring your own supplies.  The club meets every Thursday during lunchtimes in the mezzanine above the Seminar and Learning Centre.   Contact the Club.

Photo Club

The Imperial Staff photo club has been re-started, and is led by staff member Nick Kay.  You don’t have to have any experience or expensive equipment, as you can make use of the camera on your phone.  The club meets on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of each month alternately, and provides tips on technique and style.  Contact the Club

Do You Craft?

We’ve had a bit of interest recently from people who like crafting, and want to meet other people who craft for lunch time groups.

There’s a stitching and crafting group that meets every Thursday lunchtime, in the mezzanine above the Seminar and Learning Centre (5th Floor Sherfield) and they want to see new faces coming along.  All levels welcome.  For more information please email Joanna Norton  j.norton@imperial.ac.uk

Staff Table Football

Come and play table football with other Imperial staff members on the 1st of October 2015.  It’s £2 entry for up to 2 hours of playing time, although the room is booked until 10pm, so those having lots of fun can stay on late into the night.

You will be placed into teams of two, and play against all the other teams in a knock-out style until there’s a victor.  Those knocked out early will still get lots of playing time, don’t worry!

Thursday 1st October, 17:30  – 19:00 (finish time is relaxed, go when you need to), Meeting room 4, 3rd floor Union Building, Beit Quad.  You’ll need to pay in advance for your place in the game using the link https://socialcommittee1.typeform.com/to/xwXpcq , and places are limited to just 16 spots!  If you want to pay with cash rather than card, please contact katie.henry@imperial.ac.uk

More than 1,400 staff from across the College came together for the 2015 Support staff village fete.  You can read about it on the Imperial News website here.

Many thanks to all those on the committee and across the staff community who helped to organise the event!  Particular thanks should go to Katie Henry for her excellent organisation.
