The blog also doubles as the project blog for the Jisc-funded “ORCID at Imperial College” project. ORCID is a digital identifier that helps scholars to uniquely identify themselves as authors of outputs such as articles and datasets. This helps to get around issues such as inconsistent spelling and abbreviation of author names as well as the fact that most names are not unique, sometimes not even in the same faculty or department. Imperial College is currently in the process of becoming a member of ORCID.
The ORCID pilot is taken forward as a collaboration between Jisc, ORCID and ARMA, the Association of Research Managers and Administrators. You can find more information on the ORCID pilot programme on the Jisc blog.
The Jisc-funded project is managed by Dr Torsten Reimer.
