Soft Robotics: new journal added December 2016

Library Services now subscribe to the journal Soft Robotics (access from volume 1 2014). It has an impact factor of 6.130 (top journal in robotics).

Soft Robotics (SoRo) is an innovative peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the science and engineering of soft materials in mobile machines. The Journal breaks new ground as the first to answer the urgent need for research on robotic technology that can safely interact with living systems and function in complex natural or human-built environments.

Coverage includes:

  • Soft material creation, characterization, and modeling
  • Flexible and transient electronics
  • Soft actuators and sensors
  • Control and simulation of highly deformable structures

Walter de Gruyter Jisc Collections STM Collection

Library Services have recently subscribed to the Walter de Gruyter Jisc Collections STM Collection. This collection has enabled us to increase the number of Walter de Gruyter e-journals by 102 new STM titles, including the key titles Zeitschrift fur Naturforschung A and Radiochimica Acta.

You’ll find all the titles listed on Library Search.

New Medical journals

Following suggestions from staff in the Faculty of Medicine, Library Services now have subscriptions to the following new e-journals:

  • Body & Society – available from 1999 volume 5, issue 1
  • American Journal of Health Economics – available from 2015 volume 1, issue 1

The best way to access all e-journals provided by Library Services is through Library Search. You will be able to connect seamlessly when on an Imperial site and will be asked to enter your College username and password when off-site.

Scientific.net trial

Library Services have arranged trial access to a new online resource, scientific.net.

Scientific.net is an engineering website which will be particularly useful for Materials scientists – please try it and send our Materials Engineering Librarian, Eleni Zazani, your views (e.zazani@imperial.ac.uk). Your opinions will help us decided whether to add this resource to our collections.

The best way to access these titles is through Library Search. You will have direct access while on an Imperial site and will be asked to enter your College username and password if working off-site.

Audio Engineering Society E-Library

aes-logoIf you need information about audio engineering you could do worse than visit the Audio Engineering Society E-Library.

The E-library brings together the AES collection of convention papers, conference papers, engineering briefs, AES Journal and open access papers, with many contributions by leading professionals in the field. Content dates from the 1950s to the present.

Library Services are pleased to bring you access to the AES E-Library straight from your desktop when in College, or log in with your College username and password when working off-site.

From the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Library Services offer online access from 1998, Volume 26 Issue 1. For articles before 1998 please contact the Charing Cross Campus Library which holds a small number of issues, otherwise the Library Document Delivery Service will be able to assist.

Keep up to date with BrowZine

For those of you with iPads or android tablets (and phones), Browzine is a very nice visual way to keep up to date with new papers in your favourite journals:

  • Download the free BrowZine app and sign in with your College username and password
  • You can select your favourite journals from our subscriptions and add them to your bookshelf
  • You can easily see when new issues are available and quickly view PDFs of interest
  • You can save articles to read offline later
  • Articles and/or reference details can easily be saved to Dropbox or to reference management software such as Mendeley, EndNote (via EndNote Basic) or RefWorks
