Finding your balance … Mind the Gap!

Hi all, First of all, my sincerest apologies for posting after such a long time…. procrastination got the better of me! I hope 2013 is off to a wonderful start for you all! Second semester, the first half has flown by… I can’t believe it! 5 weeks since exams ended… Which I realise, I didn’t even tell you about …. So will do a quick note on the exams. In short, 5 days, 5 exams …back to back! Hell. ‘Nuff said. No but seriously, would strongly recommend keeping on top of your notes and reading if possible because I found it significantly easier to revise for the exams I had done this for, than those that I hadn’t.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for the late post! I meant to write to you all a week ago but got caught up having fun at home, in New Delhi, India! 🙂

Well, let me warn you, from experience, the winter break is super hectic – with balancing family, friends and revisions!

But never mind that, I am sure we will all find our own way of doing it right.

I just want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year – may 2013 bring you all your desires and more <3

And to sum it up, the Avanti-way:

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” – Hal Borland

Applying mgmt to life in gens!

This post of mine won’t give you immense insight into my day-to-day life at the Business school but will give you a glimpse into the amazingly awesome education that we receive on the International Health Management course at Imperial College Business School. Here are the top three pieces of wisdom from the modules:

Accounting:

  • The Rule of One: Some things, cannot be reduced below one… deal with it!
  • The Will Sutton Rule: Will Sutton was a bank robber and during his forty-year criminal career he stole an estimated $2 million and eventually spent more than half of his adult life in prison.

Move Along!

So. 4 weeks done. Week 5 begins today… and boy, does it feel longer than 4 weeks that I have been here…it feels like 4 months!

What’s happening?… plenty! This week is assignment week to the max. We have a debate tomorrow for Health Informatics, a presentation in Marketing and a report to hand-in for Accounting next week. Basically this means a lot of group meetings, unhealthy food, coffee and blood/sweat/tears!! Nope, I’m just joking. We’re all actually doing quite well. We planned our meetings and what bits of the assignment who will be working on in advance to avoid last minute surprises and such like…so hopefully it will all go smoothly.

Bittersweet Symphony

Hey, my name is Avanti Gupta and I am an MSc International Health Management student here at the Imperia College Business School. I did my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sheffield and really enjoyed my time there so this course has to meet some high expectations that I am sure it will meet!

I come from the capital of India, New Delhi and one might expect me to be quite familiar with the ‘big city life’ at London, however, this isn’t the case! London is, as you can imagine, very different and so it is quite a challenge and a new experience trying to settle in.
