“I feel privileged to welcome Imperial’s guests and to be their first point of contact when entering the College, and it is a pleasure to assist them with their enquiries.”
My journey at Imperial started eight years ago when I joined as a Catering Assistant. I loved my job at the Library Café and I particularly enjoyed being a part of a large team working in a customer-oriented environment.
After finishing a course in Business Administration Level 2 and 3, I completed a secondment for two summers at Imperial College Vacation Summer Accommodation, taking up the role of a Duty Supervisor. I was one of seven supervisors who managed a large team of 46 receptionists across 5 London sites, ensuring that the front of house services ran smoothly. Our diverse international guests can range from tourists to student groups and VIPS. I always want to make sure that their expectations match up with the exceptional standards delivered by Imperial’s world-class customer service team.
In January 2019, I joined the recently formed Welcome Host’s Team. This has given me an exciting opportunity to meet new and interesting people every day. I feel privileged to welcome Imperial’s guests and to be their first point of contact when entering the College, and it is a pleasure to assist them with their enquiries. I love the opportunity to problem solve and enjoy the positive interactions with guests. I also take pride in tasks such as the appearance of the reception area, managing post and organising and lost/found property. I particularly enjoy the moments when I can be helpful to our staff and students in the knowledge that their diverse work, studies and research hugely benefits society.
Imperial offers opportunities to further develop your career as well as improving personal skills through its varied and extensive training programmes. Working for Imperial makes me feel lively, as no two days are ever the same. The College is without a doubt the most diverse and forward thinking establishment I have ever worked for, and I am proud to remain a part of its ever-expanding community.
