COSMOS study

COSMOS is the world’s largest mobile technologies and health research study, and is based in the EBS department here at Imperial College. The study is now open to volunteers and anyone who has not already registered can take part;

Why is this research important? Mobile phones have only been in widespread use for a relatively short time but they have become central to our daily lives. In the short term, there is no clear evidence of adverse health effects from the use of mobile phones.

COSMOS is following the health of 250,000 people across Europe to identify if there are any health issues linked to long term use of mobile phones and other wireless technologies. This research has been endorsed as a priority by the World Health Organisation.

Who can take part? Any UK resident aged 18 or over, who uses a mobile phone, can join at www.ukcosmos.org.

What does taking part involve? Joining the study is quick, simple and entirely online. If you decide to take part you will just need to provide consent and answer questions about your health, lifestyle and use of technology. Also, you will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win £100 worth of gift vouchers upon completion of the questionnaire.

How can I take part? If you would like to join, to benefit the health of current and future generations, please visit www.ukcosmos.org. If you have any questions please contact the COSMOS team (ukcosmos@imperial.ac.uk).

Please also pass on this invitation to any others that may be interested in taking part.
